About Catechesis Books

Catechesis Books is a publishing company committed to producing materials to nurture the blossoming soul. For hundreds of years, Christians have practiced catechesis - a tradition of educating believers in the basic tenets of their faith – through prayer and study of scripture, through a formal catechism, and through liturgy and worship. By these practices, the essential truths of the gospel take root in the hearts and minds of believers of all ages, allowing their souls to blossom into an ever more Christ-like image. Catechesis Books was founded in 2016 by Danielle Hitchen. Our first book, Bible Basics, was entirely funded via Kickstarter. In early 2017, we partnered with Harvest House Publishing to continue to producing the Baby Believer Primer series. In October 2017, Harvest House re-released our first book as First Bible Basics: A Counting Primer. Since then, we’ve released eight additional books, with another coming in 2023!

Baby Believer Primers

Baby Believer Primers are designed to grow with children, from early infancy through early elementary school. By reframing abstract, but vitally important Biblical content into manageable concepts such as numbers and letters, the Primers expose children to the vocabulary of basic theology in a format that will help them categorize and retain the information. Additionally, Baby Believer Primers are filled with quotations from the Bible, Creeds, Hymns, Church Fathers and other articles of faith to help reinforce the content and provide intellectual handholds for older children who possess a greater capacity for learning and memorization.

Baby Believer Primers are intended to help you teach your children the central teachings of the Christian faith that they may never know a day apart from the Lord.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children ...
— Deuteronomy 6:5-7a
