About Catechesis Books
Catechesis Books is a publishing company committed to producing materials to nurture the blossoming soul. For hundreds of years, Christians have practiced catechesis - a tradition of educating believers in the basic tenets of their faith – through prayer and study of scripture, through a formal catechism, and through liturgy and worship. By these practices, the essential truths of the gospel take root in the hearts and minds of believers of all ages, allowing their souls to blossom into an ever more Christ-like image. Baby Believer Primers
Baby Believer Primers are designed to grow with children, from early infancy through early elementary school. By reframing abstract, but vitally important Biblical content into manageable concepts such as numbers and letters, the Primers expose children to the vocabulary of basic theology in a format that will help them categorize and retain the information. Additionally, Baby Believer Primers are filled with quotations from the Bible, Creeds, Hymns, Church Fathers and other articles of faith to help reinforce the content and provide intellectual handholds for older children who possess a greater capacity for learning and memorization.
Baby Believer Primers are intended to partner with parents as they teach their children the central teachings of the Christian faith and pray their Children may never know a day apart from the Lord.
Danielle Hitchen founded Catechesis Books in 2016 in order to build out a collection of biblical and theological resources for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. She desires to create beautiful books to help parents have better faith conversations with their children. She is the mom of a clever, compassionate, energetic two-year-old daughter and a sweet, oh-so-charming baby boy. Her children are her primary inspiration for writing and publishing the Baby Believer Primer series.
Her professional background includes communications consulting, radio production, event planning, and non-profit and church administration. Danielle is a graduate of the Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University where she earned her B.A. in Humanities. She presently resides in northern Virginia where she loves enjoying a good story with her husband, local playgrounds, serving at her Anglican church, wine tasting, reading to her kids, and her adult coloring book.
Jessica Blanchard is a graphic designer and stay-at-home mom to two kids - an imaginative, artistic 5-year old girl and a truck- and sports-loving, sweet 3-year old boy. Jessica has loved art from a young age, taking watercolor classes and other creative courses throughout her life, but focused her career mainly on graphic design after college. Bible Basics is the first book she has illustrated. She appreciated the opportunity to make beautiful art for a faith-based children's book and hopes that it will light up the libraries of families around the world.
She graduated from James Madison University and has also studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Throughout her career, she has designed award-winning websites, print publications, logos, and marketing materials for large corporations and small businesses alike. Her family lives in Falls Church, Virginia, near Washington, DC, where she and her husband enjoy trying the newest and best restaurants in the area and spending quality time with friends and family.
